History

In the late 1980s, personal computers were installed at an aver growing rate even in Hungary, and they were linked up into networks at an increasing number of companies. We, three IT professionals, and good old friends otherwise, saw much more potential in that development than did our employers at the time, and in the early days of the change of regime, we founded 4D Soft Limited Partnership. It was clear to us that the new means for people to exchange information would also bring fundamental changes to the way people cooperate. We began to employ methods to develop systems that were later called BPR and ERP, respectively.

In 1994, we knew we could plan for the long term and changed our legal form to limited liability company. Instead of mass production, we committed ourselves to providing the widest possible range of services to each customer. We have been doing business with a relatively small number of companies, but have established long-term strategic partnerships with them. We have been regular suppliers to Danubia Patent & Law Office since our company was founded, and to US-based industrial property consultant CPI since 1994. In this period, we gained considerable experience in the field of wholesale and retail trade. Customers recommended our integrated software products, which accurately track and efficiently support the processes of the enterprise. We built systems of increasing complexity in a variety of industries, the largest for MOL's PB gas business.

In the second decade of our history, we focused on leveraging the opportunities offered by the internet. We gained our widest range of experience in the field of web applications and service oriented architecture (SOA) during projects we have been implementing for T-Mobile and Magyar Telekom for years.

In addition to application development, we launched our SW engineering business in 2003, the head of which became an owner of 4D Soft equal to the three founding members.

Initially, the new business rendered services related to software testing, from developing testing strategies to execution. Invited by CNR ISTI, we participated in several major R&D projects, and we were also invited by CERN to lead a development working group as part of the ETICS project.
